Mobile Boarding Passes Tested On American Airlines

If you fly with American Airlines this holiday season, you may not need to carry a printed boarding pass if you have an internet enabled phone. The airline, in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration, is offering mobile boarding passes in select US cities.
The program is currently in trial at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, and will soon be available on domestic flights from Los Angeles International and John Wayne Orange County airports. Customers who opt for a mobile boarding pass will receive a two-dimensional bar code on their cell phones that will be scanned instead of a paper ticket. All that a customer needs is an active email account and an internet enabled phone.
Mobile boarding passes may soon become a permanent offering at airports, with Continental and Delta Airlines testing similar programs.
