Review: SmartCam Freeware For Symbian S60 Devices
Tag:Freeware, Symbian,

I love my webcam, its great for video blogging, replying on YouTube, and making quick demonstration videos for cellular devices, among many other popular applications. However my main problem has often been hauling around my webcam, sometimes its simply not within reach, and that's why I was very happy to find SmartCam a Symbian Series 60 based application that allows users to turn their devices into a PC ready webcam.
In order to use SmartCam you need to have not only a Symbian S60 device, but also a Bluetooth and a PC. The program installs in a few quick steps and its very easy to use. The application also requires Windows XP or Windows Vista and must be installed on your PC as well as your device.
Once installed I found that the application ran smoothly and the webcam quality was pretty smooth. It wasn't as clear as I would expect considering my N95 has a 5MP camera, but it was still as good, if not better than my personal 1.3 mega pixel webcam.
The application doesn't use much system resources, and best of all its freeware, which means you don't pay anything to use it.
If you need a portable webcam that's easy to tote around (you already have your cell phone in your pocket) then you should definitely download SmartCam.
